BYD Thailand is the first complete-vehicle plant BYD has built in Southeast Asia (ASEAN). In Rayong province, it was inaugurated on 4 July 2024 with about US$490 million invested, an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles across stamping, welding, painting and assembly, and roughly 10,000 jobs. It mainly makes battery-electric models, with plug-in hybrids planned, and is a flagship of the Chinese new-energy-vehicle expansion in Thailand, aligned with the Thai target of EVs at about 30% of annual output by 2030.
